Urban Construction
Construction as condition, not progress. A place always being built over whatever it just was.
The city mid-assembly, caught in the state it spends most of its life in. Construction here is not progress but condition, permanent scaffolding over whatever the place just was.
Bars of spray-painted aluminum cut across the form like barricades or redactions, the black lines a city draws through its own plans.
Acrylic and aluminum on maple wood, metal, concrete, and epoxy.
Street Spirits is a series of small urban relics, hand-cast in concrete with sculpted epoxy detail and sealed under UV-protective clear coats, each set on a handcrafted base of solid maple or concrete. The series reads Los Angeles as material: construction surfaces, street markings, film-industry residue, the layered noise of a city that keeps overwriting itself. Industrial weight against the warmth of wood. Signals, warnings, distortion, survival, held still long enough to be kept.
