Nocturnal
One of the unlisted things that move through the streets after the city convinces itself it is asleep.
A creature the city implies but never names. Not a cat, not quite an animal, one of the unlisted things that move through the streets after the place convinces itself it is asleep.
Maple, concrete, and epoxy give it just enough body to be believed and not enough to be identified. It belongs to the hours when the city's own noise turns into something with eyes.
Acrylic on maple wood, concrete, and epoxy.
Street Spirits is a series of small urban relics, hand-cast in concrete with sculpted epoxy detail and sealed under UV-protective clear coats, each set on a handcrafted base of solid maple or concrete. The series reads Los Angeles as material: construction surfaces, street markings, film-industry residue, the layered noise of a city that keeps overwriting itself. Industrial weight against the warmth of wood. Signals, warnings, distortion, survival, held still long enough to be kept.
